The Indian Army has reported the successful repulsion of multiple drone attacks and ceasefire violations along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir during the night of May 8-9, 2025. This operation, termed “Operation Sindoor,” was launched in response to increased tensions following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians, attributed to militants based in Pakistan.
Official statements reveal that the Pakistani armed forces employed drones and other munitions targeting military installations in various regions, including Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. Indian Air Defence units promptly intercepted these threats, with explosions reported in Naushera and Uri, where anti-drone technology and artillery were effectively used to neutralize the incoming attacks. The Indian Army noted that there were no casualties or material losses on their side during the confrontations.
This military operation unfolds against the backdrop of India’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty on April 23, 2025, a decision taken in light of national security concerns and allegations regarding Pakistan’s support for terrorism.
