In a decisive military operation, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist launchpads situated along the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This action was initiated in direct response to attempted drone strikes on Indian cities, which occurred on May 8 and 9. The drone attacks aimed at key locations in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab heightened security concerns within the region.
Defense sources reported that the operation resulted in the destruction of multiple terrorist facilities, which had been utilized to orchestrate and execute cross-border terror activities. These locations were identified as being affiliated with known terrorist organizations such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. The facilities were described as having been “pulverized and razed to the ground,” a move that significantly diminished the operational capabilities of these groups.
A senior defense official emphasized that the operation was a precise response to escalating threats faced by both Indian civilians and military personnel.
