Israel’s military announced significant progress in its ongoing operations against Iranian missile capabilities, stating that one-third of Iran’s surface-to-surface missile launchers have been destroyed. Military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin detailed that since the onset of these operations on Friday, over 120 missile launchers have been incapacitated.
Defrin’s statement emphasized the scale of the Israeli assault, revealing that overnight missions involving approximately 50 fighter jets successfully targeted and struck missile storage facilities and launchers that were poised to attack Israel. Notably, the military highlighted a particularly impactful instance where more than 20 surface-to-surface missiles were destroyed while being prepared for launch in central Iran, an area identified as a hub for missile-launching infrastructure.
In a briefing, Defrin further asserted that Israel had achieved “total air superiority in the skies over Tehran,” a claim that underscores the military’s confidence in its current operational capabilities in the region.
In retaliation for the Israeli strikes, Iran launched a missile barrage targeting Israeli cities on Monday. Despite this aggressive response, Israeli officials asserted that their recent strikes on Iranian missile sites had effectively halved the number of missiles fired at Israel, limiting the barrage to fewer than 50.
The situation marks a significant escalation in the long-standing tensions between the two nations, with military operations continuing to develop as both sides engage in reciprocal strikes. As the conflict enters its fourth day, the potential for further escalation remains high, prompting international concerns about stability in the region.
