A US-based non-governmental organization has reported a devastating impact from ongoing Israeli strikes against Iran. According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), the conflict has resulted in the deaths of at least 657 individuals, including both civilians and military personnel. This alarming figure is drawn from a variety of sources and reports within Iran.
HRANA’s findings highlight that since Israel commenced its strikes on June 13, at least 263 civilians have lost their lives nationwide. Distressingly, more than 20 children have been verified among the deceased, with the majority of these casualties occurring in the capital city, Tehran. Additionally, the report indicates that 164 military members have been killed during these confrontations. There remains uncertainty regarding the status of approximately 230 individuals whose affiliations—whether civilian or military—are still unknown.
The humanitarian toll does not stop at fatalities, as HRANA noted that more than 2,000 individuals, encompassing both security forces and civilians, have sustained injuries in these hostilities. The strikes are reported to have affected 21 out of Iran’s 31 provinces, indicating widespread conflict across the nation.
Founded in 2005 within Iran and later relocating to the United States due to governmental repression, HRANA continues to function as a critical observer of human rights violations in the region, releasing numerous reports daily that shed light on the adverse conditions faced by Iranian citizens.
Israel has publicly justified its military actions by asserting the need to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, a claim that Iran has consistently refuted. In a separate reporting by Iranian officials, an earlier toll of 224 deaths was attributed to Israeli strikes, which included military commanders and nuclear scientists among the victims, though no subsequent updates on this figure have been provided.
In a cycle of retaliation, Iranian airstrikes have also reportedly resulted in casualties in Israel, with local officials stating that at least 25 individuals have been killed and hundreds wounded in the ongoing exchange of attacks. The escalation of violence continues to raise concerns over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
