Smartshooter Expands SMASH Anti-Drone Sight to Heavy Machine Guns and Vehicles

Israeli defense company Smartshooter has announced a significant expansion of its SMASH fire control system, moving beyond its original application on rifles. The company has successfully mounted the advanced SMASH 3000 optics onto heavy machine guns (HMGs) as well as vehicles and remotely-operated platforms for the first time.

This innovation was highlighted during Project VANAHEIM, where Smartshooter equipped a heavy machine gun with the SMASH 3000 optics. In addition, the SMASH HOPPER remote weapon station was integrated with a reconnaissance vehicle to enhance operational capabilities.

The new configuration has reportedly enabled effective engagement of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) at impressive ranges, extending up to 400 meters (approximately 1,312 feet). This development marks a strategic advancement in the use of the SMASH system, showcasing its versatility and effectiveness against emerging aerial threats.

The integration of the SMASH technology across multiple platforms signals a proactive approach to modern security challenges, particularly in countering increasingly prevalent drone threats on the battlefield.
