Finnish defense manufacturer Patria has unveiled its latest innovation, the TRACKX, a groundbreaking tracked all-terrain vehicle that the company claims to be the pinnacle of extreme battlefield mobility. This versatile platform is engineered to navigate a wide range of environments, including snow, dense forests, paved roads, and even bodies of water, catering to the evolving demands of modern military operations.
The TRACKX is designed to accommodate a crew of up to 12 personnel, which includes essential positions such as a driver and a commander. This spacious configuration is intended to enhance operational effectiveness while ensuring the safety and comfort of its occupants. Additionally, the vehicle complies with NATO standards for protection, offering resistance against various ballistic threats and land mines, thereby bolstering troop safety in hostile environments.
With a total combat weight of 15.5 tons, or 14,061 kilograms, the TRACKX is engineered for robust performance. It boasts impressive speed capabilities, reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour (approximately 50 miles per hour) on solid ground. Its amphibious design further extends its operational capabilities, allowing it to cross water at a modest speed of four kilometers per hour (about 2.5 miles per hour).
