The Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Gaya has officially welcomed Lt Gen Vivek Kashyap, PVSM, AVSM, VSM as its new Commandant, marking a significant transition in leadership. Lt Gen Kashyap takes over the role as the 12th Commandant, succeeding Lt Gen Sukriti S Dahiya, SM, VSM, who has completed a noteworthy tenure that included substantial contributions to the institution.
The announcement of this leadership change was made by the Army Training Command (ARTRAC). Lt Gen Devendra Sharma, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ARTRAC, alongside officers and personnel from various ranks, extended warm wishes to both the outgoing and incoming Commandants, recognizing their respective roles in fostering the academy’s legacy.
Bringing with him nearly four decades of distinguished service, Lt Gen Kashyap possesses a wealth of operational and strategic experience. His extensive career has seen him in various crucial command and staff positions, with particular expertise in mechanized warfare, combat leadership, and cyber operations. Military officials anticipate that his leadership will enhance the academy’s training programs and its overall mission to cultivate future Army leaders.
Situated in Bihar, the OTA Gaya is recognized as one of the premier pre-commissioning training institutions for the Indian Army. The academy plays a pivotal role in developing cadets into commissioned officers, instilling in them the core values of discipline, leadership, and professionalism essential for military service.
Defence officials have expressed optimism about Lt Gen Kashyap’s comprehensive experience, believing it will be instrumental in the continued growth and evolution of the academy. They assert that under his guidance, OTA Gaya will persist in its mission to equip officers with the necessary skills to tackle the dynamic challenges posed by modern warfare.
