In a poignant ceremony held at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, the 7th Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), marked its Diamond Jubilee, honoring the sacrifices of its fallen soldiers. The event was led by Colonel Punit Aswal, who laid floral tributes at the Tyag Chakra, a solemn act aimed at commemorating the indomitable spirit and bravery of those who have served with distinction.
During the tribute, Colonel Aswal reflected on the courage, resilience, and dedication displayed by the battalion’s soldiers over the past sixty years. He emphasized that the battalion continues to embody the spirit of the maroon beret and reiterated their commitment to uphold proud traditions, living by the ethos of being “Never Out of the Fight.”

The 7 PARA (SF), established in 1963, is regarded as one of the Indian Army’s most elite units. Initially designated as a parachute infantry battalion, it later transitioned to Special Forces, playing a pivotal role in numerous significant military operations over the decades.
Among its notable contributions, the battalion was instrumental in the 1971 Indo-Pak War, where it undertook specialized missions in the Eastern theatre, leading to a decisive victory and the creation of Bangladesh. The unit has also been engaged in counter-insurgency operations, particularly in the volatile regions of Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast, where their professionalism has been commendable.
