Cyprus-based Theon International has secured a significant contract with the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation to supply next-generation IRIS-C thermal clip-on systems to Germany and Belgium. With an initial value of approximately 50 million euros ($58.7 million), the contract has the potential for an extension worth an additional 150 million euros ($176 million).
The timeline for deliveries is set between 2026 and 2027, in collaboration with Germany-based Andres Industries, which will be responsible for the maintenance and support of these advanced systems.
Christian Hadjiminas, founder and CEO of Theon, expressed pride in the company’s achievement, noting that this contract marks a major win in the competitive landscape of European military tenders. He highlighted the achievement as testament to the quality of Theon’s offerings and the swift design and developmental capabilities of their engineering team.
Hadjiminas emphasized the strategic importance of Germany and Belgium in the company’s growth trajectory, stating that their expanding local and global production footprint is paving the way for future commercial success.
The IRIS-C thermal clip-on system is designed to augment existing optical sights with advanced thermal imaging capabilities. It is compatible with both Theon and third-party night vision goggles, providing fused imagery that enhances operators’ ability to detect, recognize, and track targets across various lighting and environmental conditions.
When integrated with Theon’s Smart Battery Pack or Smart Gateway, the IRIS-C system can deliver augmented reality data, including friend-or-foe identification, target recognition, and mission overlays, while supporting connectivity with existing battle management systems.
Philippe Mennicken, Deputy CEO and Business Development Director of Theon, remarked on the significance of these new orders, describing them as a testament to the long-lasting relationships the company has developed with its clients. He reaffirmed Theon’s position as a preferred supplier for man-portable devices, noting that their products undergo rigorous testing to withstand extreme conditions across diverse environments.
