Assam Rifles Conducts Orientation Programme for Newly Posted Officers at HQ DGAR Shillong

The Assam Rifles, recognized as India’s oldest paramilitary force, recently hosted an Orientation Programme for newly posted officers at the Headquarters Directorate General Assam Rifles (DGAR) in Laitkor, Shillong. This initiative was designed to familiarize the newly inducted officers with the organization’s structure, core values, operational duties, and welfare initiatives.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, the Director General of Assam Rifles. He engaged directly with the officers, sharing insights and his strategic vision for the Force. In his address, Lt Gen Lakhera underscored the significance of professionalism, effective leadership, and unwavering commitment to national security. He encouraged officers to honor the rich traditions, discipline, and values that characterize the “Sentinels of the North East.”

During the programme, a series of interactive sessions and briefings were held to outline the diverse roles played by the Assam Rifles. Officers were informed about their responsibilities, which span important areas including counter-insurgency operations, border management, humanitarian assistance, and community development initiatives throughout the North-Eastern region.

This initiative reflects the continuous commitment of the Assam Rifles to ensure that newly posted officers integrate smoothly into their positions. By providing a comprehensive understanding of operational dynamics and welfare mechanisms, the program aims to enhance the overall effectiveness and camaraderie within the Force, reinforcing its longstanding mission in the region.
