India Launches Online National Drug Licensing System
In a landmark move to strengthen pharmaceutical safety, India has introduced the Online National Drug Licensing System (ONDLS), a centralized digital platform designed to enhance transparency and traceability in drug manufacturing.
Developed by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), ONDLS enables real-time tracking of pharmaceutical solvents and ensures that only verified, high-quality ingredients are used in medicines.
This reform comes after a series of tragic incidents, including multiple child deaths in Madhya Pradesh, linked to cough syrups contaminated with diethylene glycol (DEG) — a toxic industrial solvent.
Key Features of ONDLS
- Centralized Monitoring: Tracks production and licensing of pharma-grade solvents.
- Batch Traceability: Ensures every batch can be traced from production to end use.
- Quality Documentation: Mandates certificates of analysis and compliance reports.
- Automated Safeguards: Blocks unverified or non-compliant solvent batches from market access.
The CDSCO has identified several high-risk solvents that must be tracked under ONDLS, including glycerin, propylene glycol, sorbitol, maltitol, ethyl alcohol, and hydrogenated starch hydrolysate.
This initiative underscores India’s growing commitment to pharmaceutical quality and global trust in its drug exports.
Tuvalu Joins IUCN as 90th State Member
Tuvalu, one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable island nations, has officially become the 90th State Member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Situated in the Pacific Ocean, Tuvalu consists of nine small atolls and islands spanning just 26 square kilometres, yet commands an Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of nearly 900,000 sq km. This vast marine area supports diverse ecosystems, including coral reefs, fisheries, and migratory seabirds.
Membership in IUCN marks an important milestone in Tuvalu’s environmental governance, enabling the nation to strengthen conservation partnerships and address climate change more effectively.

UPI Introduces ‘Pay With Mutual Fund’
India’s digital payments landscape has taken another leap forward with the launch of ‘Pay with Mutual Fund’ — a new Unified Payments Interface (UPI) feature that allows users to make payments directly from their liquid mutual fund holdings.
Instead of transferring money to a bank account first, users can now redeem mutual fund units instantly to complete UPI transactions in real time.
How It Works
- The user initiates a UPI payment through a linked application.
- The equivalent amount is automatically redeemed from their liquid fund.
- The payment is completed instantly via UPI, without any intermediate transfer.
Why Liquid Funds?
Liquid mutual funds invest in short-term, low-risk instruments such as treasury bills and commercial papers. They offer:
- High liquidity and quick redemption
- Better returns than savings accounts
- SEBI-regulated safety and oversight
This innovation is expected to deepen India’s fintech integration and boost mutual fund participation among retail investors.
NPCI Unveils AI-Based ‘UPI Help’

‘UPI Help’ is expected to significantly reduce user dependency on manual customer care, ensuring faster redressal and smoother digital payment experiences.
ITBP Raising Day 2025
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) celebrates its 63rd Raising Day on 24th October 2025, marking over six decades of dedicated service to the nation.
Established in 1962, ITBP safeguards the 3,488-km-long Indo-China border, stretching from Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh, across some of the harshest terrains in the Himalayas.
From just four battalions at inception, the force has grown to nearly 85,000 personnel organized into more than 60 battalions.
Under the ITBP Force Act of 1992, the organization plays a key role in border security, disaster response, and counter-insurgency operations, upholding India’s sovereignty in extreme climatic conditions where temperatures often fall below -25°C.
