Suspicious Package at Joint Base Andrews Hospitalizes Seven, Non-Hazardous Substance Found

Seven individuals were briefly hospitalized after the opening of a suspicious package containing a white powder at Joint Base Andrews, located near the U.S. capital and known as the home of Air Force One. Reports indicate that initial analyses conducted by a Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) team concluded the substance was not hazardous; however, an investigation is ongoing.

The individuals affected, who reported symptoms such as headaches, were taken to a local hospital but have since been released. The package reportedly included what sources described as “political propaganda” alongside the unknown powder.

In a statement regarding the incident, officials at Joint Base Andrews confirmed the response to the suspicious package, stating that the appropriate safety measures were taken, including the evacuation of the building and connected structures. First responders at the facility assessed the situation, confirming there were no immediate threats, before handing the investigation over to the Office of Special Investigations.

Joint Base Andrews serves as a critical hub for high-level U.S. government officials and is easily accessible from Washington, D.C. Notably, President Donald Trump had arrived at the base just a day prior, returning from a business forum in Florida aboard Air Force One. The package was reported to have been opened in a building that houses the Air National Guard Readiness Center, part of the extensive facility.
