Danish defense and aerospace firm Terma has made a significant move in the technology landscape by acquiring OSL Technology, a UK-based company renowned for its expertise in counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) and intelligent airspace security systems. This acquisition is a strategic step for Terma as it seeks to bolster its portfolio, which includes radar systems, command-and-control suites, aircraft self-protection equipment, and mission-critical surveillance technologies designed for both civilian and military applications globally.
OSL Technology is particularly well-regarded for its capability in monitoring, locating, and managing unauthorized drone incursions in complex civil airspace environments. The company’s systems are already operational at key locations such as major airports and critical national infrastructure facilities, underscoring its established reliability in high-stakes environments.
As part of the integration, Terma plans to create an advanced architecture that combines defense-grade radar systems, artificial intelligence-driven analytics, and comprehensive anti-drone capabilities into a cohesive, modular ecosystem. This will enable a more robust and adaptable response to the growing challenges posed by unmanned aerial vehicles.
Henriette Thygesen, CEO of Terma, emphasized the strategic value of OSL’s operational experience, citing its successful track record in safeguarding critical infrastructure at locations like Heathrow Airport. She noted that this acquisition positions Terma to offer one of the most comprehensive C-UAS suites available in the market, further elevating standards for the protection of people, airspace, and vital infrastructure.
The acquisition process was supported by various partners, with MW&L Capital Partners advising Terma, while Cavendish took on the role of financial adviser to OSL. This collaborative effort highlights the importance of strategic partnerships in navigating complex acquisitions within the defense and aerospace sectors.
