Manipur Students on National Integration Tour Interact with Eastern Army Commander in Kolkata

A National Integration Tour for students from Manipur reached a significant milestone in Kolkata, where participants expanded their understanding of India’s educational, cultural, and military heritage. This initiative is designed to broaden perspectives and foster a stronger sense of national unity among the youth.

One of the tour’s key highlights occurred on December 18, as the student contingent visited Vijay Smarak, the Headquarters of Eastern Command. During this visit, the students had the opportunity to interact with Lieutenant General R C Tiwari, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command. The Army Commander shared his valuable insights on leadership, discipline, and military values, underscoring the significance of national security and the essence of selfless service to the nation. His words instilled a profound sense of responsibility, motivation, and national pride among the young participants.

In addition to military engagement, the tour provided students with exposure to both historical and contemporary aspects of Kolkata, often referred to as the City of Joy. A scenic ferry ride across the Hooghly River showcased riverfront development and the importance of sustainable urban planning. The group also had the chance to visit Acropolis Mall, marking the first exposure for many students to a modern shopping complex and offering them insights into the evolving urban service sector.

The day’s activities culminated in a visit to the iconic Mohun Bagan Stadium, where students were introduced to India’s rich football legacy and the enduring spirit of sporting excellence.

Organized by the Assam Rifles, the National Integration Tour functions as an essential bridge between the Northeast region and the rest of the country. By showing students India’s diverse institutions, cultural vibrancy, and national ethos, the initiative promotes the spirit of unity in diversity while inspiring the youth to play an active role in the nation’s future progress.
