Indian Firm IG Defence Secures Orders for Anti-Drone System with Indian Army and Navy

In a significant advancement for domestic defense capabilities, Indian defense firm IG Defence has received orders from both the Indian Army and Navy for its IG T-Shul Pulse anti-drone system. This development underscores the government’s ongoing Make in India initiative, which seeks to boost self-reliance in defense technology and promote locally manufactured solutions.

The specific contract value and the total number of units ordered have not been publicly disclosed. However, sources indicate that the IG T-Shul Pulse systems are expected to be formally integrated into military operations within approximately one month. This rapid deployment reflects the Indian armed forces’ urgent need to bolster its counter-drone capabilities.

The military has been actively enhancing its arsenal against drone threats, previously procuring man-portable counter-drone systems from Axiscades Technologies and sophisticated anti-drone technologies from Paras Anti-Drone Technologies, in addition to hard-kill solutions from Zen Technologies Limited. This concerted effort highlights the increasing recognition of drones as a significant security challenge.

The IG T-Shul Pulse itself is a handheld, electronic warfare-based jammer designed to counter hostile drones within a range of 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) under line-of-sight conditions. It is intended for use by frontline troops, perimeter security teams, and in the protection of critical national assets.

One of the notable features of the IG T-Shul Pulse is its multi-band, directionally controlled architecture, allowing operators to neutralize threats without interfering with friendly communications or naval operations. This design approach minimizes electromagnetic spillover, ensuring greater safety and operational effectiveness in contested environments, whether on land or at sea.

The system is lightweight and can be rapidly deployed, representing a substantial improvement over older, single-function jammers. Current production levels are robust, with the possibility of scaling operations to meet varying operational needs, thereby enhancing India’s defensive posture against the increasing use of drones in modern warfare.
