Elbit Systems has secured a significant contract from an undisclosed international customer for the provision of UT30 MK2 remotely operated turrets and associated munitions. This agreement has a total value of approximately $277 million and will be carried out over the next three years.
Bezhalel (Butzi) Machlis, President and CEO of Elbit Systems, expressed pride in being chosen by a valued international customer. He emphasized that such contracts signify the customer’s trust in the company’s advanced land systems and munitions technologies, showcasing their commitment to delivering high-performance operational solutions to armed forces globally.
This latest contract follows a prior order placed in April by General Dynamics European Land Systems, which selected the UT30 MK2 turret to equip ASCOD armored fighting vehicles for an undisclosed NATO member. Earlier in March 2023, Romania had also opted for the UT30 MK2 system to enhance its Piranha V armored personnel carriers.
The UT30 MK2 turret is a versatile system that can be configured as either manned or unmanned, aimed at boosting the firepower of armored personnel carriers while ensuring the safety of its crew. Its modular, open-architecture design facilitates both remote and crewed configurations and allows for quick transitions between the two modes. Additionally, it supports the integration of a range of missile and sighting options.
Arming the MK2 is the Mk44 Bushmaster II 30mm autocannon, which is further complemented by a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and anti-tank guided missiles. The turret also features independent gunner and commander sights and achieves STANAG 4569 Level 4 ballistic protection, making it a formidable addition to modern armored capabilities.
