Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command, made a significant visit to the Institute of Military Law on 21 February 2026. The purpose of this visit was to assess the institute’s training ecosystem and to discuss its future roadmap.
During his time at the institute, the Army Commander was provided with comprehensive briefings that covered ongoing training initiatives, infrastructure advancements, and the transformational goals set by the Institute of Military Law. The discussions highlighted a strong commitment to modernizing curriculum delivery, ensuring it remains aligned with the evolving operational and disciplinary demands of the Armed Forces.
In addition to the briefings, Lt Gen Devendra Sharma engaged directly with student officers enrolled in the Military Law Service Course. He took this opportunity to emphasize the vital importance of Military Law in maintaining discipline, ensuring justice, and enhancing command effectiveness within the military framework. His message underscored that possessing sound legal knowledge is not just beneficial, but essential for effective and ethical leadership in military operations.
As he reviewed the Institute’s strategic training roadmap, the Army Commander placed significant emphasis on the need for military legal training to be closely integrated with emerging service requirements and contemporary operational challenges. He also pointed out the necessity for the Institute to adapt to ongoing organizational reforms.
