From a small village in Himachal Pradesh to the prestigious parade ground of Officers Training Academy (OTA) Gaya, Senior Under Officer (SUO) Aabha’s remarkable journey is a testament to courage, legacy, and commitment to serving the nation.
Aabha, the daughter of Lance Naik Jeet Singh of the 1 MAHAR regiment, carries forward a rich history of service and sacrifice. Her father was posthumously awarded the Sena Medal for his bravery. With this familial legacy, Aabha has made a significant milestone in her own life by becoming the first woman officer in her family, marking a proud moment in both her personal journey and the wider narrative of women in the Indian armed forces.
Her academic path began at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Hamirpur, where she earned her engineering degree, one of India’s esteemed engineering institutions. Throughout her college years, Aabha exhibited leadership qualities as she actively engaged in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), ultimately rising to the rank of Senior Under Officer. Her hard work and dedication were evident even as she received a lucrative job offer worth ₹10 LPA with the corporate giant Oracle. However, driven by a desire to serve the nation, she chose the path of an army officer, donning the distinguished Olive Green uniform.
At OTA Gaya, Aabha distinguished herself through her leadership skills and unwavering determination. Among her numerous achievements during rigorous training, she led her company to victory as Inter-Company Champions and earned a Silver Medal in Cross-Country. These accomplishments are a reflection of her strong discipline, military spirit, and unwavering commitment to honor her family’s legacy of service.
Aabha’s journey is emblematic of the enduring spirit of sacrifice and patriotism that has been passed down through generations in her family. By prioritizing military service over a promising corporate trajectory, she showcases a profound dedication to her country and exemplifies the values of service that resonate deeply in her lineage.
As she commissions as an officer in the Indian Army, Aabha serves not only as a role model but also as a beacon of inspiration for countless young aspirants, particularly girls hailing from smaller towns and villages. Her story underscores the belief that with grit, determination, and courage, one can transform bold dreams into reality, charting a path towards serving the nation with pride and honor.
