Leidos has been awarded a significant contract worth $454.9 million to assist in the modernization of the U.S. Air Force’s Cloud One platform, which is crucial for hosting and managing military applications within secure cloud environments. This initiative reflects the Air Force’s commitment to enhancing its cloud infrastructure, which is increasingly vital for modern military operations.
Under this contract, Leidos will collaborate with prominent commercial cloud providers, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. This partnership is expected to bolster cybersecurity measures, introduce greater automation in cloud operations, and streamline management processes for military applications.
One of the primary goals of this modernization effort is to facilitate the seamless transition of applications and data into cloud environments. By advancing these capabilities, the U.S. Air Force aims to protect its operational and mission-critical systems while ensuring that military personnel can access and deploy digital tools more swiftly. Moreover, simplifying the management of cloud services across the various branches of the armed forces will enhance operational efficiency.
Leidos has indicated that this contract aligns with its broader NorthStar 2030 strategy, aimed at strengthening the company’s involvement in extensive technology modernization and cybersecurity initiatives for U.S. federal agencies. This strategic direction underscores Leidos’ commitment to providing state-of-the-art technological solutions to support national defense.
The recent contract for Cloud One modernization is part of a broader trend of Leidos increasingly engaging in various technology and cybersecurity programs for U.S. and allied defense institutions. In a previous initiative with RegScale last month, Leidos worked on integrating cybersecurity platforms designed to automate compliance monitoring, thereby enhancing digital defenses across the U.S. Department of Defense and other federal agencies.
Additionally, in 2025, Leidos partnered with VML to develop Imperium, an AI platform aimed at bolstering U.S. information operations. This system is designed to provide comprehensive tools for planning, executing, and analyzing information campaigns, while also integrating compliance and oversight features.
Earlier in the same year, Leidos secured an $87 million contract with the NATO Communications and Information Agency to create a centralized IT system utilizing private cloud technology. This ambitious project enlists a multinational consortium that includes notable companies such as Thales in France, CGI in Germany, Leonardo in Italy, and the UK firms LA International and NEXO. The collaborative effort aims to improve network scalability and reinforce NATO’s cybersecurity resilience.
Through these initiatives, Leidos is positioning itself as a key player in the transformation of military technology, reinforcing its role in developing advanced cybersecurity measures and modern cloud solutions for defense agencies.
