In a groundbreaking move towards gender inclusivity, the Sabhikhi Cup 2026 will feature 98 female cadets participating for the first time in its history. This prestigious inter-academy sports competition organized by the Indian Armed Forces is set to take place at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune from March 17 to March 21, 2026.
This year’s event will see a total of 429 cadets, comprising 331 male and 98 female, representing India’s leading military training institutions. This significant milestone not only highlights the progress in gender representation within the armed forces but also underscores the commitment to inclusivity in military training.
Cadets will arrive from various premier defense training academies, including:
– National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune
– Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun
– Air Force Academy (AFA), Dundigal
– Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala
– Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai
– Officers Training Academy (OTA), Gaya
The Sabhikhi Cup is renowned as one of the most vital sporting events among military academies, serving to enhance physical fitness, foster teamwork, and build inter-service camaraderie.
Athletes will compete in a variety of sporting disciplines such as:
– Cross-country
– Football
– Basketball
– Hockey
– Volleyball
– Squash
The academy that performs best overall will be awarded the Sabhikhi Cup Rolling Trophy, along with various medals, certificates, and individual awards recognizing exceptional achievements.
