The Indian Army and Air India have announced a significant Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) aimed at enhancing welfare initiatives for the Army community. The agreement was signed in the presence of General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), marking a collaborative effort to address the needs of military families.

This initiative is structured around three key pillars: Employment, Empowerment, and Environment. These pillars are designed to generate sustainable employment opportunities for Veer Naris—widows of soldiers who have died in the line of duty—and their children, while also fortifying vocational education infrastructure and advancing eco-friendly healthcare systems.

As part of the agreement, Air India will create 20 job opportunities specifically for Veer Naris and 40 positions for their wards at seven airports. This initiative aims to establish long-term career paths for families associated with the military, thereby ensuring economic stability and support.

In addition to employment opportunities, the collaboration includes plans to develop vocational laboratories in 25 ASHA Schools. These laboratories will serve as a platform for enhancing skill development and training for students, thereby fostering greater educational outcomes and career prospects.

Moreover, the MoC emphasizes improvements in healthcare services within military medical facilities. The induction of battery-operated carts at Army Hospitals aims to facilitate better patient mobility, thus improving overall healthcare support for service members and their dependents.

Officials have highlighted that this initiative underscores the Indian Army’s ongoing dedication to the welfare, rehabilitation, and empowerment of military families. Furthermore, it reflects a commitment to sustainable practices and environmentally conscious solutions, which are becoming increasingly important in various sectors.

The partnership exemplifies the growing synergy between the Armed Forces and the corporate sector, showcasing a united effort to support veterans, Veer Naris, and their families through impactful social and developmental programs.
