Lieutenant General VS Deshpande, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Chetak Corps, carried out a review of the operational preparedness of Indian Army formations deployed in the Chetak Corps Zone. The assessment centred on keeping readiness at a consistently high level across the formations under his command.
During the visit, the senior Army officer examined how prepared the formations were and pointed to the need for technology, training and operational excellence to work together. The review, as reported, was intended to strengthen combat effectiveness.
Lt Gen Deshpande said that operational readiness should remain a continuous priority for every formation. He also stressed that troops must stay prepared to respond effectively to emerging operational challenges and evolving security requirements.

The review was presented as part of the Indian Army’s wider effort to improve operational capability through modern technology, realistic training and sustained preparedness. The report did not indicate any specific incident or operational lapse; instead, it described a routine preparedness check focused on maintaining standards.

Chetak Corps was said to remain committed to operational excellence, with its formations expected to stay adequately trained, equipped and ready for assigned responsibilities. The emphasis placed on readiness suggests continued attention to day-to-day military effectiveness across the zone.

The visit also reinforced the Army’s stated view that technology, training and operational excellence are essential components of military preparedness. In the context of this review, those three elements were highlighted as the foundation for sustaining capability across the formations.
