What is AFCAT?

  • Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) is a part of recently introduced Unified Selection System to provide adequate opportunities to the candidates eligible for multiple branches of the IAF to apply through single application.  AFCAT is conducted for the non UPSC entries for induction into Officers’ cadre of the IAF.

When and who conducts AFCAT?

  • AFCAT is conducted twice a year all over India by the Indian Air Force.
  • Notifications will be released in the months of June and December. Usually, it is on the same day of notification release, the applications receiving will begin.
  • Exam will be conducted in the months of August and February and the respective results will be declared in the months of September and March, approximately one month after the exam.

SELECTION THROUGH AFCAT ENTRY INTO IAF IS CONDUCTED IN THREE PHASES:

  • Phase 1 – AFCAT Examination
  • Phase 2 – AFSB Interview

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS

  • The papers in all the subjects will consist of OBJECTIVE TYPE QUESTIONS only.
  • The question paper will be in English only for both AFCAT and EKT.
  • Candidates must write the papers in their own hand. In no circumstances will they be allowed the help of a scribe to write answers for them.
  • The Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all the subjects at the examination.
  • Use of calculator or Mathematical or logarithmic table is prohibited.

The Air Force Academy (AFA)

  • Located in Medchal-Malkajgiri district 43 km from Hyderabad, in Telangana.
  • It imparts training to the flying, technical and ground duty branches of IAF as well as officers of the Indian Navy & the Indian Coast Guard.
  • Period of training: 1 year.
  • Women cadets are being inducted since June 1993.
  • Motto: “Shram se Siddhi” “श्रम से सिद्धि

(English: “Accomplishment Through Exertion”)
