Air Force Hospital Jorhat Launches Community Outreach Program in Pakhimari Village

In a noteworthy advancement in rural development and community engagement, Air Force Hospital Jorhat, guided by Headquarters Eastern Air Command (EAC), successfully launched its first-ever community outreach program in Pakhimari Village on April 26, 2025.

This initiative, born from the hospital’s commitment to social responsibility, followed the adoption of Pakhimari Village by the Air Force Hospital. The program integrated essential healthcare services with environmental and sanitation efforts, aiming to address critical needs in the region. A dedicated team of medical specialists established an outdoor patient department (OPD), where they provided consultations and treatments to nearly 200 villagers, significantly improving access to healthcare in this underserved area.

The outreach program also highlighted two prominent government initiatives. In alignment with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel organized a street-cleaning operation, engaging local residents in the effort. This initiative aimed to boost awareness regarding sanitation and its crucial role in public health. During the event, villagers joined forces with the IAF members to clean the streets and collect waste, reinforcing the importance of hygiene as a collective responsibility.

Additionally, the program supported the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign, introduced in 2024 to combat land degradation through tree planting efforts. Members of the IAF collaborated with villagers to plant saplings in honor of their mothers. This initiative aligns with India’s ambitious goal of planting 800 million trees, highlighting the importance of environmental sustainability and community involvement.

The outreach concluded with a collaborative meeting between IAF officials and village representatives, where they discussed plans for future engagements. Air Force Hospital Jorhat committed to ongoing support in areas such as healthcare, cleanliness, and environmental programs, showcasing the Indian Air Force’s dedication to national development that transcends its primary military responsibilities.
