Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently led a critical security review meeting focused on Jammu and Kashmir, emphasizing the need for heightened counter-terrorism operations. He called upon all security agencies to proceed in a “mission mode” to expedite efforts towards establishing a terror-free environment in the Union Territory.
During the meeting, Shah highlighted the importance of maintaining sustained pressure on both terrorist infrastructure and terror financing networks. This approach is deemed vital for safeguarding the security advancements realized following the abrogation of Article 370. He urged the involved agencies to remain vigilant, ensure seamless coordination, and collaborate effectively to foster long-term stability in the region.
In his address, the Home Minister reassured officials that all necessary resources would be allocated to security forces to enhance their operational capabilities. He acknowledged the significant improvements in the security landscape of Jammu and Kashmir, thanking the agencies for their diligent efforts. However, he also stressed the necessity of ongoing vigilance and proactive counter-terror operations to build on these gains.
The meeting brought together notable officials, including Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Kumar Deka, alongside the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the Union Territory. Heads of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and other senior officials also participated, reflecting a unified governmental approach to the region’s security.
This review illustrates the central government’s commitment to reinforcing peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir through coordinated, intelligence-driven counter-terrorism strategies and sustained collaboration among various agencies.
