New Delhi, October 25, 2026: The Army Air Defence Centre at Gopalpur, Odisha, has secured the title of Best Regimental Centre (Other than Infantry) in the Best Clean, Green and Sustainable Station of the Year Competition 2026. The recognition was awarded for its work in cleanliness, environmental conservation and sustainable practices.
Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth felicitated the winners during the Army Commanders’ Conference. The felicitation acknowledged the Centre’s continued focus on environmental responsibility and ecological balance.
The honour points to the Centre’s regular efforts, careful planning and consistent attention to building a cleaner and greener military establishment. The competition assesses military units on cleanliness, sustainability and the use of eco-friendly practices.
The Gopalpur-based Centre’s performance reflects how environmental awareness has been incorporated into day-to-day administration and infrastructure management. In this context, the award is not only about appearance but also about sustained practices that support responsible resource use.

The award also fits into the Indian Army’s wider effort to encourage environmentally conscious habits across its formations and establishments. Through sustainability measures, the Army continues to promote ecological conservation and better environmental management.
The recognition is aligned with the national vision of Swachhata Hi Seva, which encourages cleanliness, public participation and environmental responsibility.
The Army Air Defence Centre at Gopalpur is an important training establishment for the Indian Army’s Corps of Army Air Defence, where personnel are prepared for specialised air defence roles. Its selection in the non-infantry regimental centre category shows that training and preparedness can progress alongside environmental stewardship.
The achievement may serve as a model for other military establishments that aim to maintain discipline, administration and operational readiness while also adopting sustainable practices.
The Indian Army’s recognition of such initiatives indicates its continuing effort to build cleaner, greener and environmentally responsible military stations across the country.
