In a noteworthy display of civil-military collaboration during a significant national security scenario, General Upendra Dwivedi, the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), presented a commendation to Sudheer Choudhary, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Jaisalmer. This recognition was given for his outstanding management and coordination during Operation Sindoor. The commendation took place during General Dwivedi’s visit to the forward areas of Laungewala, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Konark Corps in the strategically important desert sector.
Sudheer Choudhary, who is a 2015 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, earned accolades for his remarkable ability to maintain law and order while collaborating closely with the armed forces. His efforts were particularly significant in safeguarding the Jaisalmer district, which shares a sensitive border with Pakistan. Choudhary’s coordination efforts played a vital role in ensuring public safety, fostering effective communication between civil and military agencies, and facilitating operational continuity amidst conflict.
Operation Sindoor, which was executed in May 2025, featured an intense joint military response involving the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and Border Security Force (BSF) to address cross-border threats. The operation marked the desert stretch from Jaisalmer to Kutch as a focal point for swift military deployments and precise inter-service coordination. The integrated efforts during this operation successfully countered adversarial initiatives, reinforcing India’s operational superiority along the western front.
During his visit, General Dwivedi reviewed various joint operations conducted during Operation Sindoor, highlighting the rapid deployment of surveillance systems, air defense assets, and weapon platforms. He emphasized the critical contribution of civil administration support, which complemented military strategies to ensure effective area domination.
In his address to the troops, General Dwivedi praised their high morale, professionalism, and seamless integration of operational plans. He reaffirmed the Indian Army’s tradition of honor and readiness to adapt to evolving challenges with steadfast resolve, particularly in the harsh desert conditions encountered during peak summer months.
Acknowledging the dedication of both soldiers and law enforcement personnel, the Army Chief expressed the nation’s gratitude for their relentless efforts in defending national sovereignty. The commendation awarded to SP Sudheer Choudhary serves as a testament to the indispensable collaboration between civil agencies and armed forces in maintaining security and stability during challenging times.
