The “Combined Defence Services” (CDS) Examination is conducted twice a year by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the recruitment of candidates into the Indian Military Academy, Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.
UPSC conducted CDS 2 2020 Exams on 8th November 2020, Sunday. All the main topics of Mathematics paper are given below along with the no. of questions from each topic.

The CDS 2 2020 Mathematics Paper consisted of the total 100 marks with questions from each of the above given main topic. Following is the detailed graphical representation of the CDS 2 2020 Mathematics Paper analysis :
Going through topic wise analysis of questions we can deduce that the Mensuration topic covered highest count, i.e. 19 questions out of 100 questions that’s approx. 19% of the paper, including most of the questions on areas and Perimeters varying between easy to moderate level of difficulty. This paper has easy to moderate level questions on Number systems, Geometry and Statistics etc. Commenting on Algebraic operations & Polynomials, the weightage was good, 10 questions which are higher than CDS 1 2020 paper. The Trigonometric ratios and Identities topics covered 12 questions out of 100 questions, surprisingly there was not a single question from Heights & Distances. LCM &HCF, Work & Time, Logarithms covered least questions, Paper maintained usual trend of 1-2 question each on them.
Commenting on Unitary method, it has maintained equal number of questions on SDT & Ratio and Proportions, followed approximately 14 questions together out of which good number of questions were on SDT and Ratio & Proportion, variations, Profit & Loss topics, level of these questions was easy to Moderate demanding basic knowledge about these topic including all the subtopics. Statistics required the conceptual knowledge about Central measures of tendencies and important formulas. Whereas the level of questions on this topic was easy.
So, basically the students who have prepared well for Number systems, Algebra, Mensuration, Trigonometry, Statistics & Geometry were in advantage. In particular, after analyzing this paper, we can conclude that CDS is expecting more knowledge about Mensuration, Trigonometry, Algebraic operations, SDT, Ratio & Proportions, Statistics & Number systems.
