In a notable visit, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan toured the Infantry School in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, where he gained insights into the institution’s training methodologies and advancements in Professional Military Education (PME). Accompanied by Commandant Lieutenant General Gajendra Joshi, General Chauhan was briefed on the modern strategies being employed to adapt to the dynamic nature of infantry training.
The Infantry School holds the distinction of being the oldest and largest military training institution in the Indian Army, playing a crucial role in the evolution of infantry tactics and operational strategies tailored to various terrains and combat scenarios. It focuses on developing junior officers and leaders through rigorous training in tactical warfare, special missions, and contemporary battle strategies.
In addition to its primary training objectives, the Infantry School also actively supports India’s National Shooting Team through the Army Marksmanship Unit (AMU), showcasing its broad contribution to military education beyond traditional parameters.
During his discussions, General Chauhan emphasized the necessity for continuous learning, innovation, and adaptability within the context of modern warfare.
