Union Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh has stated that India’s lunar mission Chandrayaan 3 will investigate the feasibility of human dwelling on the moon.
According to the Union Minister, Chandrayaan 3 has elevated India to the forefront of global space technology.

He stated that Chandrayaan-3 will look for more indications of water, which could lead to the establishment of a human habitat on the moon in the future.
The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft would also be the first to land on the lunar south pole, which is of particular interest to space agencies and private space firms due to the existence of water ice that may support a future space station.
On Friday, Chandrayaan-3 was successfully launched on the GSLV Mark 3 (LVM 3) heavy-lift launch vehicle from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota. The spacecraft’s voyage from Earth to the moon is planned to take around a month, with the landing scheduled for August 23.
It will operate for one lunar day, or around 14 Earth days, after landing. One day on the Moon is equivalent to fourteen days on Earth. The mission costs $74.6 million, which is far less than that of other countries and a tribute to India’s inexpensive space engineering.

Chandrayaan-3, India’s third lunar exploration mission, will make India the fourth country after the United States, China, and Russia to land a spacecraft on the moon’s surface and demonstrate the country’s abilities for safe and soft landings.
The ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 project is the follow-up to the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which had difficulties during its soft landing on the lunar surface in 2019 and was ultimately deemed to have failed its key mission objectives.

After the orbit-raising manoeuvres, Chandrayaan-3 will be put into the Lunar Transfer Trajectory. It will reach the Moon in the following weeks after travelling over 300,000 kilometres. Scientific instruments will analyse the Moon’s surface and add to our understanding.
Chandrayaan-3 has a lander, a rover, and a propulsion module. It weighs around 3,900 kilogrammes. ISRO’s Chandrayaan-2 mission successfully launched an orbiter in 2019, but its lander and rover were destroyed in a crash near where Chandrayaan-3 would attempt to land.
