In a significant effort to bolster civil-military relations, the Chetak Corps held a ‘Know Your Army’ Mela at the Bathinda Military Station as part of the preparations for the 78th Army Day Parade. The event aimed to inspire youth and enhance their understanding of the Indian Army’s ethos and capabilities.
Lieutenant General Shamsher Singh Virk, General Officer Commanding of the Chetak Corps, inaugurated the event. During the opening, he took the time to interact with students and NCC cadets, encouraging them to embrace the mantra of “Nation First” and consider dedicating their lives to serving the country.
The mela drew a significant turnout from the local populace, resonating particularly well with the youth who expressed a strong interest in the various displays. Attendees were granted a firsthand look at modern military capabilities, which included advanced drones, state-of-the-art weapon systems, and cutting-edge equipment. This showcase provided a vivid illustration of the Indian Army’s ongoing technological evolution and its readiness for combat.
The event emphasized the Army’s commitment to fostering awareness, transparency, and trust within the civilian community. By facilitating direct interactions, live demonstrations, and hands-on experiences, the initiative aimed to inspire the younger generation.
As a key outreach event leading up to Army Day 2026, the ‘Know Your Army’ Mela symbolizes the Indian Army’s dedication to national service, innovation, and the establishment of strong connections with the citizens it protects.
