A civilian employee at the National Defence Academy (NDA) was discovered dead in what has been classified as an unnatural death on January 8, according to police officials.

The deceased, identified as Mayur Pawar, a 31-year-old Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) member who also served as a cadet orderly, was found unresponsive at around 5:45 PM inside a furniture store located within the NDA premises. He was on duty with a squadron at the time of the incident.

Authorities from the Uttamnagar Police Station promptly arrived at the scene following reports from concerned personnel. Initial investigations revealed that Pawar, a resident of Lamanwadi, Khadakwasla, had dedicated nearly 11 years of service to the NDA.

Additionally, police officials reported the recovery of a note from the scene, which indicated that Pawar was experiencing financial difficulties. The note suggested that no individual should be held accountable for the incident, raising concerns about his mental health and circumstances leading to this tragic outcome. Investigations are ongoing to clarify all aspects surrounding the case.

The family of the deceased has been notified, and the body has been transported to Sassoon General Hospital in Pune for a post-mortem examination, in accordance with standard procedures.

In response to the incident, the Commandant and personnel at the NDA issued an official statement expressing their profound condolences. They emphasized their commitment to supporting the bereaved family during this challenging time and assured that they would fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation by civil authorities.
