CRPF Director General Commends Family Welfare Initiatives During Visit to Srinagar

The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Shri G.P. Singh, recently visited the Group Centre (GC) Humhama in Srinagar, where he praised the contributions of the CRPF Family Welfare Association (CWA) and the Montessori school in fostering family welfare and child development.

Emphasizing the vital connection between strong family support and operational efficiency, DG Singh remarked that empowered families form the backbone of a motivated and mission-ready force. He was joined by Dr. Anamika Singh, the President of CWA, during the discussions.

During his visit, DG Singh held a Sainik Sammelan, providing an opportunity for meaningful interaction with officers and jawans. His addresses focused on themes of operational preparedness, administrative efficiency, and the welfare of troops. He underscored the significance of daily activities that nurture physical fitness, positive morale, and overall well-being within the ranks.

This visit reinforced the CRPF’s ongoing commitment to high operational readiness, especially in the challenging environment of Jammu & Kashmir, where personnel frequently contend with extended deployments and operational pressures.

Established in 1995 under the Societies Registration Act, the CWA was initially created as the CRPF Wives’ Welfare Association. It has played a crucial role in supporting the families of CRPF personnel through various welfare initiatives. These initiatives include family welfare centers, free school bus transportation, and awareness campaigns targeting important issues such as HIV/AIDS and drug abuse, complemented by a 24-hour toll-free helpline to assist families navigating welfare schemes.

The overarching goal of these programs is to empower families, promote self-reliance, and mitigate the challenges encountered by those who are separated from their loved ones due to the demanding nature of operational duties.

Moreover, the presence of the Montessori school at GC Humhama forms a critical component of nurturing the education and development of the children of CRPF personnel, thereby reinforcing the importance of a family-centered foundation within the force.

Concluding the visit, DG Singh called for a renewed emphasis on achieving a harmonious balance between operational requirements and the welfare of personnel, aligning with the CRPF’s guiding motto of “Nation First.”

This visit aligns with DG Singh’s recent activities in other conflict-affected areas, including his February 2025 trip to Sukma, where he appraised troop readiness and operational strategies under similar challenging conditions. The CRPF remains focused on ensuring not only the operational readiness of its forces but also the well-being of both personnel and their families amidst some of the country’s most demanding environments.
