National Small Industry Day 2026

Airbus Awards Mahindra Contract for A320neo Fuselage Skins

The components will be manufactured at Mahindra’s facility in Bengaluru and subsequently supplied to the Airbus Aerostructures assembly facility in Augsburg, Germany.
What Are Fuselage Skins?
Fuselage skins are the outer structural panels that form the body of an aircraft. They require extremely high levels of accuracy during manufacturing because they become part of major fuselage sections.
The contract covers 11 fuselage skins, comprising:
- 8 skins for Section 18, the rear fuselage
- 3 skins for Section 19, the tail section
The first deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2028.
To fulfil the contract, Mahindra Aerostructures plans to expand advanced aerospace manufacturing capabilities at its Bengaluru facility. These include processes such as chemical milling, surface treatment and stretch-forming.
