Guru Nanak Jayanti 2025

Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Gurpurab, is celebrated to honour the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the first Sikh Guru and the founder of Sikhism. The day symbolizes peace, unity, and spirituality, encouraging people to follow the Guru’s teachings of truth, equality, and compassion.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born in 1469 at Talwandi, now known as Nankana Sahib in Pakistan. His philosophy emphasized the belief in One God (Ik Onkar) and equality among all human beings, irrespective of religion, gender, or social status.
His core teachings are summarized through three key principles:

  • Kirat Karni: Earn a living honestly.
  • Vand Chakna: Share with others.
  • Naam Japna: Remember and meditate on God in all actions.

Guru Nanak Jayanti thus stands as a reminder to live a life guided by honesty, service, and faith.

World Tsunami Awareness Day 2025

World Tsunami Awareness Day is observed globally on 5 November every year to raise awareness about tsunami risks and the importance of preparedness. Established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, the day aims to promote better understanding and readiness against such natural disasters.
The theme for 2025 is “Be Tsunami Ready: Invest in Tsunami Preparedness,” urging governments and communities to prioritize disaster resilience, invest in warning systems, and strengthen coastal safety measures.

QS Asia University Rankings 2026

The QS Asia University Rankings 2026 have revealed a mixed outcome for Indian universities. While institutional scores improved, most Indian institutions, including several IITs, witnessed a decline in overall ranking.
Among the top 10 Indian universities, nine dropped in rank, reflecting heightened competition from universities in China, Singapore, South Korea, and Malaysia, which continue to excel through global collaborations, strong research output, and better faculty-student ratios.


India Exports Fortified Rice to Costa Rica

India has achieved a new milestone in agricultural exports by sending its first shipment of Fortified Rice Kernel (FRK) to Costa Rica. The 12-metric tonne consignment, shipped from Chhattisgarh under the facilitation of APEDA, marks a step forward in promoting nutrition-based trade.
Fortified rice is created by mixing rice flour with iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12, forming grains through extrusion technology. The process supports the government’s Kuposhan Mukt Bharat initiative and contributes to reducing global malnutrition.


India Sends Humanitarian Aid to Jamaica and Cuba

Demonstrating its commitment to international solidarity, India has dispatched 20 tonnes of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) materials each to Jamaica and Cuba following Hurricane Melissa.
The relief operation, executed by the Indian Air Force, included essential supplies such as the Aarogya Maitri BHISHM Cube, food, medicines, power generators, hygiene kits, and shelter materials. Dispatched on 4 November 2025 from New Delhi, the mission underscores India’s proactive role in aiding Global South nations during crises.


India to Import Eight More Cheetahs from Botswana

Under Project Cheetah, India will import eight additional cheetahs from Botswana by December 2025 to strengthen the species’ reintroduction efforts.
The cheetahs, currently in quarantine, will be relocated to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh for acclimatization.
India earlier brought cheetahs from Namibia (2022) and South Africa (2023), bringing the total population to 27, including 16 cubs born in India. The initiative aims to restore the species that went extinct in 1952 and promote ecological balance and biodiversity conservation.
