Ancient Kushan Coins Unearthed Near Taxila
Archaeologists in Pakistan have made a significant historical discovery at the Bhir Mound site near Taxila in Rawalpindi. Excavations revealed nearly 2,000-year-old bronze coins belonging to the Kushan Empire, dating to the reign of Emperor Vasudeva, who is regarded as one of the final prominent rulers of the dynasty. Alongside the coins, fragments of lapis lazuli were also recovered, highlighting the region’s role in ancient trade networks. While the semi-precious stones are believed to date back to the 6th century BC, numismatic and scientific analysis confirms that the coins originate from the 2nd century AD. The findings underline the area’s cultural diversity, economic importance, and religious significance during the early Common Era.
Haryana to Introduce India’s First Hydrogen-Powered Train
India is moving closer to clean and sustainable transportation with the launch of its first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana. This pilot project, led by Indian Railways under Northern Railway, will operate on the Jind–Sonipat route and is currently in its final commissioning phase. The hydrogen train-set has already been manufactured, demonstrating the feasibility of hydrogen as an alternative fuel for rail transport. A dedicated hydrogen generation plant has been set up at Jind with a storage capacity of 3,000 kilograms. The facility operates on an 11 kV power supply and produces hydrogen through the electrolysis process, supporting India’s broader push toward green energy and reduced carbon emissions.
