The theme for this year’s campaign is “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari”, meaning “Our Anganwadi Centres, Our Responsibility.”

The month-long campaign focuses on improving nutrition awareness and encouraging healthier practices. Major areas of emphasis include dietary diversity, adequate protein intake, nutritious hot cooked meals, community participation and early childhood stimulation.

UIDAI Launches Aadhaar Face Authentication SDK and Sandbox

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has introduced the Aadhaar Face Authentication Software Development Kit (SDK) and Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.

The new tools are designed to help financial institutions, fintech companies, government bodies and other organisations integrate Aadhaar-based face authentication into their digital applications.

One major advantage of the SDK is that it can reduce dependence on separate third-party applications. Authentication capabilities can instead be incorporated directly into an organisation’s own application.

The Aadhaar Face Authentication Sandbox provides organisations with a controlled testing environment where they can develop and test the complete authentication process before deployment.

The technology incorporates AI/ML-based liveness detection and anti-spoofing features, along with mechanisms for secure handling and encryption of authentication information.

The SDK is designed to operate on consumer smartphones, potentially supporting wider adoption of Aadhaar face authentication across digital services.

According to UIDAI, Aadhaar face authentication has already recorded more than 500 crore authentication transactions and has been adopted by nearly 200 organisations.

Key Facts

  • Organisation: UIDAI
  • New products: Face Authentication SDK and Sandbox
  • Launched at: Global Fintech Fest 2026
  • Technology: AI/ML-based liveness detection and anti-spoofing
  • Device support: Consumer smartphones

India’s Carbon Credit Scheme Gets UK Recognition

India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) has received recognition from the United Kingdom as a carbon-pricing mechanism under its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) framework.

The recognition could be significant for Indian exporters of carbon-intensive products, particularly industries such as steel and cement.

Under the arrangement, carbon costs already incurred by Indian exporters through the CCTS may be considered while determining the applicable carbon cost under the UK’s CBAM system. This could help reduce the possibility of carbon costs being imposed twice.

The development is also important in the context of expanding India-UK economic relations. India and the UK signed the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) on July 15, 2026.

India-UK merchandise trade was valued at approximately $25.1 billion in 2025–26, while bilateral services trade stood at around $35.4 billion in 2024.

Key Facts

  • Indian scheme: Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS)
  • UK mechanism: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)
  • Important sectors: Steel and cement
  • Potential benefit: Recognition of carbon costs already paid in India
  • India-UK CETA signed: July 15, 2026
  • Merchandise trade: $25.1 billion in 2025–26

ISRO Tests CE20 Cryogenic Engine at 220 kN Thrust

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted a flight-acceptance hot test of its indigenous CE20 cryogenic engine at an enhanced thrust level of 220 kN on September 9, 2026.

The test was carried out at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. The upgraded engine is associated with the C32 upper stage of an upcoming LVM3 mission.

The CE20 is a cryogenic upper-stage engine developed by ISRO for the LVM3 launch vehicle. It uses liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen as propellants, which are stored at extremely low temperatures.

The LVM3 is India’s heavy-lift launch vehicle and is used for major satellite missions as well as applications related to human spaceflight.

The upgraded 220 kN thrust configuration is intended to enhance the payload-carrying capability of the launch vehicle.

During the test, ISRO also demonstrated the Liquid Oxygen Tank Pressurisation Module (LTPM), designed for the C32 stages associated with the Gaganyaan missions.

The latest test follows an earlier sea-level hot test conducted on March 10, 2026, which lasted 165 seconds.

Key Facts
