What is Vande Bharat Mission?

  • It is an Indian government initiative of bringing People back home in this pandemic.
  • A massive evacuation program launched in May 2020 Due to COVID. This involved flights via Air India and its low-cost arm Air India Express, as well as the Indian Navy.
  • The total number of civilians evacuated could surpass the Kuwait airlift, with estimates ranging from 192,000 to 250,000.
  • As well as evacuating Indian nationals back to the country, certain flights will also evacuate anyone who wants to leave, provided they are a national, permanent resident, or have a visa valid for at least one year.
  • Under this one more initiative was launched named ‘Swadesh‘ meaning ‘Skilled Workers’ Arrival Database for Employment Support’.
  • Under this, their database is being prepared as per their proficiency. Based on this indigenous and foreign companies can be provided employment according to their demand.
  • The Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of External Affairs, and Skill Development have together launched this scheme.

NITI Aayog launches ATL App Development Module

  • NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission launched this Module for school students nationwide.
  • The App have been launched in collaboration with Indian homegrown startup Plezmo with an aim to sharp the skills of school students and transforming them from App users to App makers in the times to come under AIM’s flagship Atal Tinkering Labs initiative.
  • It is an online free course.
  • Through 6 project-based learning modules and online mentoring sessions, young innovators can learn to build mobile Apps in various Indian languages and showcase their talent.
  • Once the ATL App Development Modules is implemented, at school level across the world, it will be the largest App learning initiative
  • At present, in over 660 districts in the country, 5100 Atal Tinkering Labs have been already established.

New Guinness Record by India’s Tiger Census

  • India’s Tiger Census sets a New Guinness Record for being the world’s largest camera trap wildlife survey.
  • The fourth cycle of the All India Tiger Estimation 2018, results of which were declared to the nation on Global Tiger Day last year has entered the Guinness World Record for being the world’s largest camera trap wildlife survey.
  • India has fulfilled its resolve to double the tiger numbers four years before the target.
  • The country now has an estimated 2967 tigers as per the latest census. With this number, India is home to nearly 75% of the global tiger population and has already fulfilled its resolve of doubling tiger numbers, made at St. Petersburg in 2010, much before the target year of 2022.

Chhattisgarh becomes first state to start e-Lok Adalats

  • The E-Lok Adalat was conducted through video conferencing.
  • Over 3 thousand cases will be heard in more than 200 benches of various districts across the state including the high court in Bilaspur.
  • Due to the lockdown, working of government departments as well as the judiciary have got significantly affected. Advocates and defendants both are going through tough phases.
  • Cases related to money like settlements, accident claims, bouncing of cheques besides family disputes among others are usually resolved by Lok Adalat.

India becomes second-largest source of FDI for UK

  • India invested in 120 projects and created 5,429 new jobs in the UK to become the second-largest source of foreign direct investment (FDI) after the US in 2019.
  • Data released by United Kingdom Government’s Department for International Trade.
  • Moving up from its previous third-largest spot, representing an overall 4 per cent FDI increase for the UK on 2018-2019 with 1,852 new inward investment projects in the 2019/2020 financial year.
  • In Financial Year 2019-20, Germany, France, China, and Hong Kong were the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and the 6th largest source of FDI for the United Kingdom respectively.
