What is E-Courts Project?

  • The eCourts Mission Mode Project, is a Pan-India Project, monitored and funded by Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India for the District Courts across the country.
  • The project was conceptualized on the basis of the “National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary – 2005” submitted by e-Committee, Supreme Court of India.
  • Objectives:
  • To provide efficient & time-bound citizen-centric services delivery as detailed in e-Court Project Litigant’s Charter.
  • To develop, install & implement decision support systems in courts.
  • Provide transparency in accessibility of information to its stakeholders.
  • To enhance judicial productivity, both qualitatively & quantitatively, to make the justice delivery system affordable, accessible, cost effective, predictable, reliable and transparent.

Parliament’s Monsoon Session 2020 begins

  • The Monsoon Session of Parliament began and will continue for the next 18 days.
  • It was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Government has suspended Question Hour for the session and has also curtailed the Zero Hour.
  • A total of 47 items have been identified for being taken up during the Monsoon Session 2020, which include 45 Bills and two financial items.

National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2019

  • The Lok Sabha on 14 Sep passed the National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2019 and the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill, 2020.
  • Aim: Ensure the availability of high-quality medical professionals both for homeopathic treatment as well as in the Indian System of Medicine.
  • Both the bills were passed by the Rajya Sabha on 19th March this year during the Budget Session.
  • The National Commission for Homoeopathy Bill, 2020 seeks to repeal the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973. It is to set up a National Commission for Homoeopathy.
  • The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine Bill, 2020 seeks to repeal the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970. It is going to set up a National Commission for Indian System of Medicine.

Yoshihide Suga to become Japan’s Next PM

  • Yoshihide Suga, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary on September 14, 2020, won the leadership vote of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan.
  • He will soon secure the post of the new Prime Minister.
  • He will be replacing long-serving Prime Minister Shinzo Abe
  • Abe resigned unexpectedly in August 2020 due to health problems.
  • Yoshihide Suga is a Japanese politician serving as president of the Liberal Democratic Party.
  • His formal appointment scheduled to take place on 16 September 2020.

Three bills for transformation of agriculture introduced in Lok Sabha

  • Three bills aimed at transformation of agriculture in the country and raising farmers’ income were introduced in Lok Sabha
  • They will replace ordinances promulgated on 5th June 2020.
  • The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020
  • The Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020
  • The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020
  • The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill, 2020:
  • Aims to create an ecosystem where the farmers & traders enjoy the freedom of choice relating to sale and purchase of farmers’ produce
  • Promote efficient, transparent and barrier-free inter-State and intra-State trade and commerce.
  • The Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill, 2020
  • Aim to provide for a national framework on farming agreements that protects and empowers farmers to engage with agri-business firms, processors, wholesalers, exporters or large retailers.
  • The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Bill, 2020
  • Aims to remove commodities like cereals, pulses, oilseeds, edible oils, onion and potatoes from the list of essential commodities. This will remove fears of private investors of excessive regulatory interference in their business operations.

Petroleum Projects in Bihar

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on dedicated three petroleum sector projects in poll-bound Bihar to the nation.
  • The projects include the Durgapur-Banka section (about 200 km) of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur Pipeline Augmentation Project and two LPG Bottling Plants in Banka and Champaran.
  • They have been commissioned by Indian Oil and HPCL, PSUs under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
  • These LPG plants will meet the LPG requirements of Godda, Deoghar, Dumka, Sahibganj, Pakur districts and some areas of Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.

  • Engineer’s Day is celebrated in India on 15th September every year to mark the tribute to the Indian Engineer Bharat Ratna M. Visvesvaraya.
  • UNESCO celebrates March 4th of every year as World Engineer’s day at the international level.

15th September: International Day of Democracy

  • International Day of Democracy is observed on 15th September to remind people that democracy is about people.
  • This day provide an opportunity to make people understand about the importance of democracy and the effective realisation of Human Rights.
