What is National Digital Health Mission (NDHM)?
- PM announced the launch of National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) on 74th Independence Day.
- The NDHM is a complete digital health ecosystem.
- The digital platform will be launched with four key features — health ID, personal health records, Digi Doctor and health facility registry.
- Later, will also include e-pharmacy and telemedicine services.
- Implemented by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
- The platform will be available in the form of an app and website.
- Health ID
- It will be a repository of all health-related information
- Every patient who wishes to have their health records available digitally must create a unique Health ID.
- Each Health ID will be linked to a health data consent manager
Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements 2020
- The Vice-President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu virtually announced Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020.
- Announcement was done for top ten institutes in public funded and five institutes in private and self-reliance categories.
- Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai got the top position under Government and Government Aided Universities.
- College of Engineering, Pune under Government and Government Aided Colleges
- Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Bhubaneswar under Private or Self-Financed Universities
- S R Engineering College, Warangal under Private or Self-Financed Colleges.
Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge
- Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Law & Justice, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, launched “Swadeshi Microprocessor Challenge- Innovate Solutions for Aatmanirbhar Bharat
- It is to provide further impetus to the strong ecosystem of Start-up, innovation and research in the country.
- Open to students at all levels and startups.
- Registration process begins on 18th August 2020 through MyGov portal
- The Challenge demands availability of the entire home-grown ecosystem around Swadeshi Processors to develop the complex designs for catering to both global and domestic requirements in near future.
- IIT Madras and Center for Development of Advance Computing have developed two microprocessors named SHAKTI (32 bit) and VEGA (64 bit) respectively.
- ‘Shakti’ was India’s first indigenous microprocessor that can be used in mobile computing, networking, wireless systems, and may be even for country’s nuclear systems.
Satya Pal Malik appointed as Governor of Meghalaya
- He Replaced Tathagata Roy who completed his five-year tenure.
- Along with him the Governor of Maharashtra Bagat Singh Koshyari is to discharge the functions of Governor of Goa.
- Malik served as the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2018-19.

Results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 to be announced in “Swachh Mahotsav”
- Prime Minister will announce the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020, on 20th of August 2020.
- This is the fifth edition of the annual cleanliness survey of the country.
- A total of 129 awards will be handed over to the top performing cities and states in the programme, titled “Swachh Mahotsav”.
- The event is being organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
- Swachh Survekshan 2020 is the World’s largest cleanliness survey which ranked a total of 4,242 cities, 62 Cantonment Boards and 92 Ganga Towns and saw participation of 1.87 crore citizens.
- Mysuru had won the award for the Cleanest City of India in the first edition of the survey.
- Indore has retained the top position for three consecutive years (2017,2018, 2019).
- 1.7 crore citizens registered on Swachhata App
- Over 11 crore impressions on social media
- Over 5.5 lakh sanitary workers linked to social welfare schemes and over 84,000 informal waste pickers integrated into the mainstream
- Over 21,000 Garbage Vulnerable Points identified and transformed
ADB Approves $1 Billion Package Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System
- Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $1 billion loan to support the construction of the modern, high-speed Delhi–Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System.
- RRTS network is the first of three priority rail corridors in the country’s integrated transport network under the NCR Regional Plan 2021.
- The Government of India will provide $1.89 billion and co-financiers are expected to provide $1 billion of the total project cost of $3.94 billion.
- This project will finance the construction of railway tracks, station buildings, maintenance facilities, and traction, and power supply.
