What is Hamara Ghar-Hamara Vidyalaya campaign?
- It is an initiative by Madhya Pradesh Government.
- It is a digital campaign to take care of the academic regularity of the school students in the state.
- ‘Hamara Ghar Hamara Vidyalaya’ means My Home My School for providing a school-like environment to the students of classes 1 to 8 in the state during Pandemic.
- The classes will be held from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm with 1-hour classes for every subject.
- The timetable for the students’ education and other activities under this scheme are prepared by the School Department of Education.
- The students will have subject classes from Monday to Friday and Saturday the students will be engaged in activities like yoga, write and listen to stories etc.
RBI Revised Priority Sector Lending (PSL) norms
- The PSL guidelines were last reviewed by the RBI in April 2015.
- RBI has assigned priority sector lending (PSL) status to India’s startup sector.
- Increases the borrowing limits for the renewable energy sectors- solar power and compressed biogas plants.
- Priority Sector Lending
- Those sectors which the GoI & RBI consider as important for the development of the basic needs of the country and are to be given priority over other sectors. The banks are mandated to encourage the growth of such sectors with adequate and timely credit.
- All scheduled commercial banks and foreign banks (with a sizable presence in India) are mandated to set aside 40% of their Adjusted Net Bank Credit (ANDC) for lending to these sectors.
- Priority Sector includes the categories like Agriculture, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Export Credit, Education, Housing, Social Infrastructure, Renewable Energy, Others.
Inauguration of submarine cable connectivity to Andaman & Nicobar Islands
- PM Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate and dedicate to the Nation the submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connecting Chennai and Port Blair on 10th August 2020.
- The submarine cable will also connect Port Blair to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock), Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Great Nicobar, Long Island, and Rangat.
- Through this faster and more reliable mobile and landline telecom services to Andaman & Nicobar Islands, will be provided at par with other parts of India.
- Foundation stone for this project was laid by the PM on 30th December 2018 at Port Blair.

Two villages of Odisha get Tsunami-Ready certificate
- Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO has approved the recognition of two communities of Odisha viz., Venkatraipur and Noliasahi as Tsunami Ready Communities.
- India has become the first country in the Indian Ocean Region to achieve the honor from the UNESCO-IOC.
- Tsunami Ready:
- It is a community performance-based programme.
- Initiated by the IOC of UNESCO.
- The Programme is to promote tsunami preparedness through active collaboration of public, community leaders, and national and local emergency management agencies.
- Objectives of Tsunami Ready:
- To improve the coastal community’s preparedness for tsunami emergencies.
- To minimize the loss of life and property.
- To ensure a structural and systematic approach in building community preparedness.
Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is going to inaugurate Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra today.
- It is an interactive experience centre on the Swachh Bharat Mission.
- Rashtriya Swachhata Kendra (RSK) was first announced by the PM on 10th April 2017, on the centenary celebrations of Gandhiji’s Champaran Satyagraha.
Conclave on Transformational Reforms in Higher Education
- Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi delivered the inaugural address at the Higher Education Conclave.
- The conclave was organized by the Ministry of Education along with the University Grants Commission.
- In the Sessions dedicated to the significant aspects of education in the new National Education policy 2020 were discussed.
