RBI’s Report On Internationalisation Of Rupee

An Inter-departmental Group Of The Reserve Bank Of India Has Said That The Increasing Use Of Indian Rupee In Invoicing And Settlement Of International Trade, As Well As In Capital Account Transactions, Will Give The Local Currency International Acceptance.
The Group Was Formed To Examine The Internationalization Of Rupee And Frame A Roadmap For The Same.
Its Report And Recommendations Were Placed On The Rbi’s Website Yesterday.
The Report States That The Internationalization Of A Currency Is Also Closely Interlinked With The Nation’s Economic Progress, Especially Its Prominence In Global Trade.
The Group Has Recommended Enabling The Rupee As An Additional Settlement Currency In Multilateral Mechanisms Such As The Asian Clearing Union.
It Has Also Encouraged The Opening Of Rupee Accounts For Non-residents Both In India And Outside The Country And Integrating The Indian Payment Systems With Other Countries For Cross-border Transactions.
In A Press Release, RBI Has Clarified That The Report Reflects The Views Of The Inter-departmental Group And Does Not Reflect The Official Position Of The Reserve Bank.
The Apex Bank Will Examine The Report And Then Decide On Whether And How The Recommendations Can Be Implemented.

Scheme For Modernization Of Fire Services

Union Home Ministry Has Launched A Scheme For The Expansion And Modernization Of Fire Services In The States With A Total Outlay Of Five Thousand Crore Rupees.
The Ministry said, An Amount Of Five Hundred Crore Rupees, Out Of Total Outlay, Has Been Kept For Incentivizing The States Based On Their Legal And Infrastructure-based Reforms.

Mr Potzel Said That Women Have The Right To Participate In Society And Urged The Taliban To Fulfill Its International Obligations, Including Ensuring The Rights To Education And Work For Its Population.
Meanwhile, Earlier, The Taliban Said That The Issue Of Women In Afghanistan Is One Of The Country’s Internal Issues And That Other Institutions And Countries Should Not Interfere.

Record Applications For Asylum In the EU In 2022

The European Union Agency For Asylum, EUAA Says, Applications For Asylum In The European Union In 2022 Soared To Nearly One Million. This Is 53 Percent More Than In 2021.
People From Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey, Venezuela, And Colombia Were Among The Largest Groups To Have Applied For Asylum.
Germany Received The Largest Number Of Applications At 2,44,000, Followed By France, Spain, Austria, And Italy.
The Agency Said, The Number Of Asylum Seekers Was Putting Acute Pressure On Already Strained Reception Places In Many Countries.
The Report Comes As European Union Leaders Debate A New Migration Plan, Especially For Those Who Have Reached European Shores Without A Legal Pathway.
Hungary And Poland Have Objected To The Plan.
