7th Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament 2026
The Indian Air Force (IAF) is set to host the seventh edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament from 23 June to 3 July 2026 at Air Force Station Jalahalli in Bengaluru. Organized annually by the Air Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB) since 2018, the tournament honors the legacy of Marshal Arjan Singh, one of India’s most distinguished military leaders and a passionate supporter of hockey.
Marshal Arjan Singh believed strongly in the role of sports in building discipline, teamwork, and leadership. Inspired by his vision, the Indian Air Force has consistently encouraged sporting excellence and produced athletes who have represented India at international events.
This year’s tournament will feature 16 teams competing at the Hockey Stadium of Air Force Station Jalahalli. The competition will follow a league-cum-knockout format, ensuring a high level of sporting action throughout the event.
To encourage excellence, substantial prize money has been announced. The winning team will receive ₹10 lakh, while the runners-up will be awarded ₹8 lakh. Individual performances will also be recognized through awards for Man of the Match and Player of the Tournament.
India and UAE Discuss Potential Defence Cooperation
India is reportedly engaged in discussions with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding the possible export of advanced indigenous defence systems, including the world-renowned BrahMos supersonic cruise missile and the Akashteer air defence network.
The talks come amid growing security concerns in the Gulf region following recent tensions in the Middle East. Reports suggest that the UAE is exploring options to strengthen its defence preparedness and has expressed interest in several Indian-made military platforms.
BrahMos, jointly developed by India and Russia, is among the fastest operational cruise missiles in the world and can be launched from land, sea, and air platforms. Akashteer, on the other hand, is an automated air defence command and control system designed to integrate data from multiple sensors and coordinate responses against aerial threats.
Although negotiations remain at an early stage, the discussions indicate increasing global confidence in India’s defence manufacturing capabilities and its growing role as a defence exporter.
India Nears $230 Million M777 Howitzer Support Agreement with the United States
India and the United States are moving closer to finalizing a support package worth approximately $230 million for the Indian Army’s fleet of M777A2 ultra-light howitzers. The agreement is intended to ensure long-term maintenance and operational readiness of these artillery systems.
The proposed package forms part of the broader defence partnership between the two countries and follows recent U.S. approvals for military support initiatives involving India. Alongside the M777 programme, support for AH-64E Apache attack helicopters is also being considered.
India inducted 145 M777 howitzers under a government-to-government agreement signed in 2017. Manufactured by BAE Systems, the 155mm artillery guns are known for their lightweight design and mobility, making them particularly suitable for deployment in mountainous and difficult terrain.
The sustainment package is expected to enhance operational efficiency while further strengthening defence cooperation between New Delhi and Washington.
Safran and SatSure Join Hands for Geospatial Intelligence Solutions
French defence and aerospace major Safran Electronics & Defense has entered into a strategic partnership with Indian Earth intelligence company SatSure to develop advanced geospatial intelligence solutions for India.
The collaboration, announced during the France-India Year of Innovation, combines Safran’s expertise in artificial intelligence with SatSure’s strengths in satellite imagery and geospatial analytics.
The partnership aims to create integrated intelligence platforms capable of processing satellite data, generating actionable insights, and supporting decision-making across multiple sectors. These solutions are expected to improve situational awareness, accelerate intelligence analysis, and assist defence, environmental monitoring, disaster management, and infrastructure planning.
The initiative reflects the growing importance of AI-powered intelligence systems in modern security and governance frameworks.
Israeli Defence Delegation Visits India to Strengthen Strategic Partnership
A senior delegation from Israel’s Ministry of Defense recently visited India to further deepen defence and strategic cooperation between the two countries. The delegation was led by Major General (Retd.) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
During the visit, Israeli officials held discussions with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and other senior Indian representatives. The talks focused on expanding military cooperation, promoting defence industry partnerships, and exploring opportunities in emerging technologies.
Both sides discussed collaboration in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, advanced defence systems, research and development, and defence manufacturing. The visit highlighted the commitment of both nations to strengthening their long-standing security relationship.
