P7 Heavy Drop System

DRDO has developed the P7 Heavy Drop System which is capable of para dropping military stores up to 7-ton weight class from IL 76 aircraft. P-7 Heavy Drop System is used for Para drop of military stores (vehicles /ammunition/ equipment) of 7 Ton weight class. The Heavy Drop (P-7) System for IL-76 Aircraft consists of a platform & parachute system.

Parachute System comprises of a cluster of a cluster of 5 Main canopies, 5 Brake chutes, 2 Auxiliary chutes & 1 Extractor parachute. The platform is a metallic structure made up of Aluminum/ Steel alloys with its mechanism like ADU & PFRL, shock absorption system & quick unlashing accessories.

Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE)

ADRDE is a pioneer R&D lab of DRDO for the Design and Development of Aerodynamic Decelerators, Aerostat Systems. The charter of duties of the establishment includes development of Paratrooper Parachute Systems, Aircrew Parachute System, Ammunition Parachute System , Brake Parachute, Recovery Parachute System, Aerial Delivery Parachute Systems, Heavy Drop Systems, Inflatable Systems, Airship Technologies and Aircraft Arrester Barrier System etc.

Aeronautical Systems (Aero)

Aeronautical Systems cluster is engaged in the development of state-of-the-art unmanned Air Vehicles, Aero Gas Turbine Engine Technology, Airborne Surveillance Systems, Parachutes, Decelerators and Lighter-than-Air Systems.

The cluster comprises of four labs – ADE, ADRDE, CABS, GTRE and a centre CEMILAC which provides concurrent airworthiness certification, support to indigenous development to certify upgrades and integration of imported and indigenous systems.
