A P8I Aircraft Of The Indian Navy Arrived At Guam, USA On 09 Jan 2024 To Participate In ‘Ex Sea Dragon 24’, The 4th Edition Of The Coordinated Multi-lateral ASW Exercise For Long Range MR ASW Aircraft, By The US Navy. Ex SeaDragon_24 is a premier maritime exercise designed to foster professional interactions and collaboration between participating navies. Through a series of airborne and ground-based drills, the exercise aims to hone skills in various aspects of maritime warfare, including:

Anti-submarine warfare (ASW): Hunting down and neutralizing enemy submarines lurking beneath the waves.

Surface warfare: Coordinating attacks against hostile surface vessels using advanced weaponry and tactics.

Air defense: Establishing an impenetrable air shield to protect friendly forces from aerial threats.

Search and rescue (SAR): Locating and rescuing personnel in distress at sea.

Communication and coordination: Seamlessly sharing information and coordinating operations across diverse platforms.

The Indian Navy’s P8I aircraft plays a crucial role in this exercise. This versatile platform is equipped with cutting-edge sensors and weapons systems, making it a formidable force multiplier in maritime operations. Some of its key capabilities include:

Long-range surveillance: The P8I can scan vast stretches of the ocean, detecting enemy movements and activities at impressive distances.

Multi-sensor fusion: Its onboard radars, sonars, and electronic intelligence systems offer a comprehensive picture of the maritime environment.

Anti-submarine warfare: The P8I is equipped with torpedoes and depth charges, making it a potent threat to enemy submarines.

An Indian Navy P-8I aircraft arrived in Guam, United States to participate in the fourth edition of the Anti-Submarine Warfare exercise, Ex Sea Dragon 24, organised by the US Navy. The US-led exercise focuses on fostering cooperation and interoperability among the navies of the US, Australia, South Korea, Japan, and India.

Aim Of The Exercise

•The Exercise Aims To Achieve High Levels Of Synergy And Coordination Between The Friendly Navies, Which Is Based On Their Shared Values And Commitment To An Open, Inclusive Indo-pacific.

•Ex Sea Dragon 24 Will Test The Capabilities Of Participating Aircraft In Tracking Simulated And Live Underwater Targets, Whilst Also Sharing Mutual Expertise.

Last Edition: The Exercise Scheduled From 15-30 Mar 23, Would Stress Coordinated Anti-submarine Warfare Amongst The Participating Countries. The Complexity And Scope Of These Exercises Have Increased Steadily Over The Past Years To Include Advanced ASW Drills.
