Four members of an Indian Navy employee’s family are reported to be in serious condition after allegedly consuming rat poison at their home in Surya Vihar Phase 2, in Faridabad’s Palla area, on Sunday. The incident has been linked in reports to allegations of domestic abuse within the family, while police say the matter is still under inquiry.

According to PTI-cited reports and local police sources, the family was first taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital after the eldest daughter called the emergency helpline 112 when their condition worsened. Doctors later referred them to a hospital in Delhi for further treatment.

Who the family members are

The Indian Navy employee has been identified as Sunil, originally from Bihar and posted in Delhi. Reports say he is often away from home for long periods. His wife, Mala, works in the marketing department of a private company.

The couple has three children: 17-year-old Srishti, who studies in Class 11; 13-year-old Ram, a Class 8 student; and 11-year-old Rudra, who studies in Class 7.

What the daughter alleged

Police said the eldest daughter told investigators that her father had repeatedly subjected the family to physical abuse and questioned her mother’s character. As per her account, on Sunday morning she was in a room on the terrace when her father took away her mobile phone and verbally abused both her and her mother.

She further alleged that Mala later consumed rat poison in the afternoon and gave it to the three children as well. Shortly after that, all four reportedly began showing severe distress, which led the daughter to call for help.

Police response and current status

Officials said a police team reached the spot and shifted the family members to the local civil hospital before doctors referred them to Delhi. At the time of the initial reports, no written complaint had been filed at Palla Police Station.

Police stated that action would be taken in accordance with the law once a complaint is registered, and that the circumstances of the incident are being examined. The medical condition of the four individuals continues to be monitored at the hospital in Delhi.

The reports describe the substance consumed as rat poison and present the incident as an alleged response to long-standing mistreatment. However, the allegations remain unverified through a completed investigation, and no formal complaint had been filed when the first reports appeared.

This account is based on contemporaneous reporting from The Times of India, citing PTI, along with Rediff, Dainik Bhaskar, AajTak and other local sources published on October 25, 2026.
