A significant event took place today at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as Brigadier RMSP Rathnayake of the Sri Lanka Army had the distinct honor of pinning the rank insignia on his son, Foreign Officer Cadet RMNL Rathnayake, during the ceremonial commissioning parade. Cadet Rathnayake’s graduation marked him as the 296th Sri Lankan officer to complete training at the IMA since its establishment in 1949, underscoring the long-standing military collaboration that exists between the two neighboring countries. Over the years, the IMA has trained more than 2,500 foreign cadets from over 30 nations, reinforcing its status as a cornerstone of India’s military diplomacy.

During the visit, strategic dialogues were held focusing on enhancing defense cooperation, joint training efforts, and addressing shared security challenges in the region.
