Why October 31 is observed as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed every year on October 31 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. He is remembered for his role in integrating princely states into the Indian Union.
The Department of Military Affairs’ participation reflected the Armed Forces’ commitment to national integration, collective responsibility and the safeguarding of India’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The ceremony also served as a reminder of the importance of unity across institutions and communities.
As observed on the occasion, the broader message was one of a secure, resilient and united nation built on shared responsibility and cohesion.
