Haryana Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Sharing Classified Information with Pakistan's ISI Amid Rising Tensions

In a significant security breach amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, Haryana police have arrested a 25-year-old, Devendra Singh, from Mastgarh Cheeka village for allegedly sharing classified information with both the Pakistan Army and the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Singh, a postgraduate diploma student, reportedly initiated contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives during a pilgrimage to the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan last November.

Police officials revealed that Singh had provided sensitive intelligence related to Operation Sindoor, a covert Indian military initiative, along with details about ongoing military and diplomatic tensions between the two nations. The intelligence was disseminated over several months, raising serious concerns regarding national security and the vulnerabilities present within internal systems.

DSP Veerbhan, of Kaithal police, stated that Singh’s arrest followed credible intelligence inputs regarding his activities. “Our special detective staff acted swiftly to detain Singh,” he said. Additionally, the cyber police station is conducting an exhaustive investigation of electronics recovered from the suspect. Authorities are exploring the possibility that Singh acted with accomplices or as part of a broader espionage network.

Further investigations revealed that Singh was pursuing a Master’s degree in political science at a college in Punjab. His visit to the Nankana Sahib Gurdwara is under scrutiny, as it appears to have been a critical point of connection with intelligence agents from Pakistan. Officials have expressed concerns that Singh might have been manipulated under the pretense of a religious pilgrimage to relay sensitive information.

This incident follows the recent arrest of another young man, Nauman Illahi, 24, also from Haryana, who is similarly accused of transmitting sensitive data to Pakistan. Additionally, in Punjab, two individuals named Palak Sher Masih and Suraj Masih were detained for allegedly sharing information regarding Indian military installations in Amritsar with the ISI.

The frequency of these arrests has raised alarms about potential espionage activities aimed at compromising India’s military operations and strategic security. Law enforcement agencies have affirmed their commitment to thoroughly investigating these incidents and pursuing strict legal action against those implicated.

In light of escalating tensions, the Indian security establishment remains on high alert against any efforts to undermine national security through espionage or unauthorized information dissemination. The ongoing investigation into Devendra Singh’s activities is expected to reveal more about the extent of the security breach and assist authorities in addressing potential gaps in surveillance and counter-intelligence protocols.
