Haryana soldier martyred in Leh-Ladakh, village mourns loss

In a tragic turn of events, the village of Kwartan in Haryana’s Kaithal district is mourning the loss of Sanjay Singh Saini, a soldier from the Indian Army’s 10 Sikh Regiment, who was martyred while serving in the challenging high-altitude terrain of Leh-Ladakh. News of his martyrdom reached the village on Monday, casting a pall of sorrow over the entire community.

Sanjay was dedicated to his duties in the Indian Army, stationed in the inhospitable regions of Ladakh, where he faced harsh conditions and serious challenges. His family was notified of his passing during active duty, which has left them and the villagers heartbroken.

Coming from a humble background, Sanjay leaves behind a grieving family: a wife, two sons aged 14 and 11, an elderly mother, and an elder brother. His father had passed away recently, and Sanjay had returned home to attend the funeral, only to have his life cut short in the service of his country.

Army officials confirmed that Sanjay Singh’s post-mortem will be conducted in Kargil. Afterward, his mortal remains will be transported from Leh to Chandigarh and subsequently to his native village via Ambala. The final rites are scheduled for Wednesday, where he will be honored with full military and state honors.

As the news of Sanjay’s sacrifice spread throughout Kwartan, relatives and members of the community began to gather at his home to pay their respects and extend condolences. The collective grief felt in the village is palpable, as residents come together to remember the valor and dedication of a soldier who served his nation with pride. Sanjay Singh’s commitment and courage will not be forgotten, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.
